Cheap places to retire - this falls in the "did you know?" category. One of the more recent reasons for the La Paz area to be a cheap place to retire is the strong gain of the US Dollar versus the peso over the last several months. Since September, the value of the USD has gone from under 11 pesos to almost 14 pesos - an over 30% jump in value! This, of course, means that your dollar will go that much further in purchasing goods and services toward living the retirement you want to live down here. The Canadian Dollar has likewise seen significant increases versus the peso in recent months.
